8.  On 10th January the Regi­ment left for the front ar­riv­ing at its gun posi­tion on the 13th and go­ing into ac­tion under com­mand 1 Cdn Di­vi­sion.  The gun posi­tion was taken over from an Eng­lish Regi­ment and was near SAN LEO­NAR­DO on the OR­TONA sec­tor.  The first shot in an­ger was fired by BA com­man­ded by Sgt. Ross, M.R., on the 14th Jan­uary.
